Greetings, this is Nazrul from the Hokkaido Government Representative Office.

The region of Hidaka in spring is full of charms of cherry blossoms and sea urchin. The best time to see its cherry blossoms is from beginning to mid-May, later than that of Honshu region.

The Nijukken Road Cherry Blossoms in the town of Shin-Hidaka is a scenic spot where about 3,000 cherry blossom trees are in full bloom on a 7-kilometer stretch of road.

The Yuushun Sakura Road in the town of Urakawa is another scenic destination where about 1,000 cherry blossom trees are in full bloom on a road stretching up to 3 kilometers. The ‘Sakura Tunnel’ comes to life during full bloom, where lighting is arranged so that visitors can enjoy watching the flowers in the evening.

Spring is also the season for sea urchin. A rice bowl brimming with high-quality, sweet-tasting sea urchin thanks to Hidaka’s high-grade kelp, is a magnificent gastronomical experience that’s not to be missed.

So come on up to Hidaka for the season of spring!
